My Thinking Box
Where do you have your best thinking time?
I read Gabriele's blog post where he asks Where do you get your ideas?. It reminded me that I had been planning to write about where I have my best thoughts.
I'm not sure why, but all my best ideas come to me during my morning shower. It's my personal thinking box.
I've often wondered if I was unique, but it seems Gabriele has the same idea space. There may be more of us!
My Own Space
When I'm in the shower there are no distractions. I'm there to do one thing, and it occurs to me that I go into auto-pilot. I stand there as the water runs from head to toe; I apply shower-gel to a sponge and I enter cleaning mode. I do it in exactly the same order. There is no need to think.
I guess this is when my brain can cogitate, without having to think about what else I am up to.
I think about work and personal projects. I say "I think", but I must do it subconsciously as I don't make an effort. Ideas and plans for the day ahead just rush to the front of my thoughts.
It's a great time for me and I've solved many a problem in those minutes in the shower.
I am not aware of being so productive at any other time, or location during the day.
What about you? Do you have an idea-stimulating place?
