Summer Recess

Guess who's back?! Yes, that's right, it's me.

By way of explanation, I took a step back from blogging and social media. Not for any specific reason, other than life interfered -- in a positive way.

At the start of July I transported myself to Spain for a few weeks. We are very lucky (having worked hard for years), to own a property in Spain. We visit as much as we can, for short periods, but I decided July was my Summer Recess. In my head it would be all of July, but I got greedy and decided to extend it into the first two weeks in August. Why not?!

I had already accepted that I'd step back from work for the month, so another two weeks was not too bad. For the last two weeks I did look in on emails occasionally, just to keep the pot warm, so to speak.

Six Weeks

Those six weeks were an absolute joy. I had so much fun with friends in the village. We spent a lot of time eating and drinking (in moderation), and having long nights in the village bar, sitting outdoors until 2am with nothing to concern myself with, other than laughing with chums.

And now

I've returned to Scotland and had a week of reality under my belt. I've caught up on all the work chores, and can get back into the rhythm of writing and interacting online.

Missing in action

I've genuinely missed so many of my on-line friends over the last month or so, but I've maximised my time with friends-in-real-life, which has been a blessing for the soul.

I was touched that several on-line friends reached out directly to check in and ensure I was doing ok? It's interesting, as it's usually me who does that. If I notice someone I admire has not been on for an unusual period of time I will send them a little note checking-in.

It was heart-warming to have that simple gesture reversed onto me. I was greatly touched. Thank you to everyone who did so. If I have yet to reply, via email, Signal, or socials, I will do so personally shortly.

Onwards

So, there we are. The self imposed summer recess is over, but my heart remains warm and my soul joyful.

Time to get 'back on the horse', with my keyboard clicking, as I resume blogging and my on-line life.

I fear I have much to catch up on!
