Proton Mail is offering a fantastic deal. For 'fantastic', read devious!
When I login I am offered an amazing Black Friday sale with 80% off the normal price. In big bold headline it's dropped from $4.99/month to 1.00/month
However, if you look closely, it is ONLY for 1 month -- after which it reverts to the $4.99/month. This deal is billed for the year; equating to 55.89.
If I logout, I get offered their Black Friday deal at $ 1.99/month AND it's for 1 full year. Therefore, $23.88
As a loyal customer I get a deal which is far worse than a new sign up. Cheek.
Always check the small print -- Black Friday is often a con.
