Procrastination - the thief
What is it with procrastination that makes it so easy?
Take today as an example, I had a couple of things I really needed to do. Like, really, they had to be done today.
I got up this morning totally focused on achieving them.
Had breakfast and then:
- Oh wait, I need to quickly clean my computer screen. Actually I might as well clean the TV screen too.
- The computer desk could do with a quick wipe with a damp cloth. Oh, even the legs, and under the little drawer.
- It's such a lovely morning, I will put a laundry on as I can get it outside later
- Oh, you (dog) want to play in the garden with the ball for a little while; no problem.
- I must quickly pull those weeds out that have been annoying me for weeks in the corner.
- Do we have enough milk for later, or will I need to pop to the shops? Let me check the bread situation too.
- I must text my sister -- about something unimportant!
- Oh it's noon -- the Bank of England were announcing the new interest rate today. Let me check.
- I should listen to the rest of the news
and so it goes on..... 4pm..... feck, I better get on with this. Oh, it's late, I can do it in the morning.
