Pre-blog re: Online Music costs
This is not, as yet, a blog post in the traditional sense. More of a pre-blog exploratory announcement.
Following on from my investigation into Amazon Kindle costs to Authors, I have been curious about how the Streaming Music services work. I'm especially interested in what generates the fairest income for the artists.
I feel I will be entering a turbid world of unspoken deals, and figures.
I have already discovered that streaming generates a miserable income. As an example, a recent social media post by an artist stated they had just over ninety-one thousand streams last month, which generated revenue of approximately £95 ($126 USD). Where-as, she says, that if just nine people had bought and downloaded it from Bandcamp, she would have received the same income.
It seems I have much work ahead of me, but I'm ready for it.
