mailbox.org, anyone?
Am I missing something with mailbox.org?
I am always checking out other products in case there is something better or more cost-effective.
Currently I use Fastmail for all my mailbox needs. It's great and serves, what I consider, my simple needs:
- Multiple domain names/mailbox support
- Mailbox rules
- Good Spam filtering
- An excellent web interface for when I am on the move.
Recently a few people I follow on socials have been talking about mailbox.org, so my natural curiosity took over.
After a rummage around the innards, I don't see the attraction. It's slow at moving around the various features. The way it handles mailbox aliases and/or additional domains is fiddly and slow. When I add an alias I assume it is available immediately, but on mb.org I can wait 30 minutes. V odd.
There's no native app for desktop or mobile devices. Not necessarily a deal-breaker, as a good web app is just as powerful. However, their web interface is awkward on smaller screens. Ok, I could use an independent email app but then I don't get the mailbox aliases and other mail domains in my Reply options. Pointless really.
Some of the help messages and errors show in German only. I believe it's a German company but they've clearly not refined their internationalisation. They've been on the go ten years -- I expected more.
I paid a one-month subscription to test all the features, but at the moment I am confident it will not be renewed.
So what am I missing? Are there killer features that have eluded me?
