Can you lick an ice-lolly?

I read a lot online, and I try to read quality not trash. However, this has to be the worst thing I have seen this week:

Licking an ice lolly should be an essential part of the national curriculum for primary schoolchildren in England, according to scientists at the Royal Society of Chemistry. (Full story in the Guardian, UK)

Apparently his, along with several other skills like digging in soil, and kneading dough, should be added to basic science lessons.

They say that licking an ice lolly helps children understand hot and cold, and controlling body temperature.

I mean....is this for real.... I wonder how I got to 54 without being taught this?

Can you hear my eyes rolling in the back of my head?
