I actually started journaling!
It's true -- I've started to journal. I doubt it will go down in history as an insightful document of daily life, but I'm enjoying the process, mostly!
Back in August 2025, I lamented about wanting to Journal but I just could not put my finger on the how, why, when, what!
I even showcased some of my notebooks. I love keeping notes and scribbling ideas down. I later learned that this is, what those in the know, call Common Place note-booking!
Fast forward to more recently, and I was chatting to a friend who admitted to keeping a random journal of his thoughts, daily activities, and ideas to keep him busy. He had recently lost his wife to cancer and was struggling. His counsellor suggested keeping notes. It has really helped him focus on positives and he has a new found zest for life.
It made me think -- while I am not needing a support journal, I talked it over with him and we discussed how I had wanted to do one for ever! He said 'just do it'. So I did.
I am now 65 days in and have managed to jot something down every day. I will admit that some days I feel like nothing is worth recording, but I just write how mediocre the day had been. After all, not every day can be amazing.
As part of my blog post in August last year, I considered digital or traditional note books. In the end I have settled on good old pen and paper. Who cares if anyone finds it; there's nothing earth shattering or controversial.

(My current journal - obviously obfuscated)
Not just daily churn
As well as day to day wittering, I started a section at the back with some "memorable dates". I think is useful as a linear list. Example: The date we got a new car, or the date the new dryer was delivered. Nonsense things really, but perhaps useful in the future.
Moving Forward
I've almost filled the notebook I selected for my first journal. I now need to think about what my next notebook will be.
I am leaning towards something that is capable of allowing me to add inserts, and is bound in a leatherette cover. It appears to be what all the cool kids use!
