Food Favourites

What is your favourite food? Why do you like it? What is your history with it?

Today, my blogging fans (yes, both of you!), we are talking food in my Fiftyin50 challenge.

Picking a favourite can be hard. I love food that has great taste, nice spices, or even simple food that evokes fond memories.

I don’t think I am too fussy in my eating, but I am sure friends would disagree. I will eat meat, veg, fish, etc. However, within that range there are things I would avoid. Especially in the fish arena. I tend to stick to meaty fish (as it has a lower risk of bones) -- tuna, salmon, monk, etc. I can’t eat any kind of shellfish. It’s not an allergy, just not my thing.

So back to my favourites:

Bread. I adore it. In all styles. Flat bread; Sourdough; Bagel; Naan; Corn bread; Baguette; Focaccia.... I love making bread too. There’s nothing nicer than fresh cooked bread. A selection of homemade breads

A good Chilli. I love it. Everyone seems to have their own recipe and we’re probably a million miles away from its origins, but I like most of them. Even a vegetable chilli. My own tip for chilli is to add some dark chocolate to give a lively rich velvety taste.

A simpler favourite: a cheese sandwich. Nothing but cheddar cheese and bread. I could have it every day (and often have it many days in a row for lunch). Of course, it includes my absolute favourite... bread!

What’s yours? What gets your mouth salivating?
