A dream in two parts
I am one of those (special!) people who never dreams when I sleep. I wake each morning, refreshed and ready for the day, with no thoughts of overnight story-telling in my brain. I'm sure a psycho-doctor would have a field day telling me why.
Having said that, on occasion it happens. I usually wake with a fragment of a story or awareness that the old grey cells had been making nonsene.
Last night, however, was just downright annoying.
I was aware at some point I was dreaming. I have zero recollection of the subject matter, but I do recall having an internal conversation with myself saying: This is stupid. It's just a dream. Wake up.
I dutifily left my sleep-state. I had a sip of water and returned to my slumber. Would you believe it, the dream returned for a second act. Again I had to have a word with myself to flush such trivial mind gymnastics.
Now I wonder... Perhaps me waking and drinking water, then returning to sleep, never happened and I continued sleeping.
We shall never know. Nor shall I ever know what folderol was keeping my mind active.
The brain is amazing.
